The Shift highlights women’s stories through the lens of impact. It hopes to contextualize history and inspire action.
Megan Gabrielle Harris collaborated with The Shift to create a portrait of Gloria Steinem, titled “Gloria’s Reverie,” as featured on the back cover of this inaugural issue. Known for her dream-like, reflective style, Harris’s work aligned seamlessly with the project’s themes of honoring visionary women and creating space for contemplation, strength, and innovation.
“When asked to create a portrait of Gloria Steinem, I was honored and excited for the opportunity. Gloria’s mission hinged on a dream, an ideal landscape where all women could have a voice in the world. Her ability to visualize this kind of world was the most important step towards transforming it. In my practice, I am heavily influenced by surreal and dream-like visions. I truly believe in art making as a tool for manifestation, and I relate to Gloria in that way. Her innermost visions turned into action, creating a tangible shift in the world.”
