Billie Eilish is a Grammy and Oscar-winning singer-songwriter known for her genre-defying sound and bold style. A voice of her generation, she champions mental health, climate action, and creative authenticity through her art and platform.

The Shift:

Name three women who inspire you.

Billie:

Maggie Baird – My mother is where it all started. My knowledge, empathy, understanding, and care for the world and other beings stems from my mama. I’m just so grateful to her and all she does.

Jane Goodall – Jane continues to use her platform to educate and advocate for wildlife and our planet and her passion and energy inspires me, reminding me how important it is to use our platforms for good, and for others.

Wawa Gatheru – Wawa’s unique ability to inspire, educate and use her voice to reach others, especially younger generations gives me hope that our planet might still stand a fighting chance of a future.

The Shift:

What is one defining moment in your career or life that empowered you to create change, and how has it shaped the path you’re on today?

Billie:

When I see the thousands of people show up in the many ways they do for our planet after attending the Eco Villages or our OVERHEATED conference at my shows, it reminds me to keep going. Witnessing others take simple actions such as eating plant-based meals, using public or shared transport to my shows, recycling, minimizing waste, and taking on a more conscious lifestyle when it comes to our planet and wildlife reminds me that I’m on the right path.

The Shift:

Who is a woman who has inspired or mentored you, and what lessons from her influence have stayed with you?

Billie:

My mama, Maggie Baird. She works tirelessly for a better world, and it all started for me at home when I was a kid. She has instilled empathy, passion, and a love for our planet, animals, and others, for which I am so grateful. Her legacy will [not only] live on within Finneas and me but also the thousands of others she inspires through her organization Support + Feed.
